So why on Earth would you leave your dogs in the car?! It's already been much TOO HOT for pets across the region! Here's what you need to know:

Temperatures inside vehicles can climb rapidly, even with windows cracked open!

Rising Summer Temps + Dogs in Cars = EXTREME DANGER!  Since dogs cannot sweat, they can only withstand the heat for a very short period of time.  If a dog's body temperature increases by just two degrees, it can result in irreparable brain damage within minutes - even death!

Each year, OSPCA Officers receive hundreds of "Pets in Danger" calls!  So for everyone's sake, please bookmark: nohotpets.ca and facebook.com/ontariospca. Take the pledge NOT to leave your pets in harm's way, and share these links with everyone you know!

If you do find a pet that you think may be suffering from heat exhaustion, and the owner cannot be quickly located, please contact the Police, or call your Ontario SPCA Branch at: 1-888-ONT-SPCA (668-7722).  Email: cruelty@ospca.on.ca.  If we ALL do our part, we can ensure this unfortunate, totally preventable tragedy never comes to pass. Let's all work together so that both Humans & Canines can truly enjoy those Lazy, Hazy "Dog Days" of Summer!
