The 2019 AAC National Championships will be held August 15-18 at the Red Barn Event Centre - part of the Innisfil Recreation Centre and Soccer Fields!

We hope you'll join us right here at Pet Country Estate leading up to this premiere event. RU Ready Agility's own AAC-sanctioned competition dates are: May 3-5, June 14-16, July 20-21, Sept 7-8 and Oct 5-6. Premiums are available for download prior to each scheduled weekend on RU Ready's website HERE.

Introduced in England in 1978,  Agility has been gaining in popularity around the world ever since. The Westminster Kennel Club has even incorporated Agility Trials as part of their annual Dog Show.

Agility itself demonstrates a dog’s willingness to work and your ability to communicate as the team.  Navigating obstacles together while racing against the clock is great not only fun, it's great exercise.  The course mimics the hunt for prey that a dog would experience in the wild.  It includes climbing slopes, walking briskly, jumping logs, weaving through thick brush and under bushes.

Available for any pedigree or mix breed dog of any size, Agility only one limitation: your canine partner must be physically fit for the sport. Dogs younger than 18 months should be checked to make sure they’ve finished growing, to prevent injury.  Show classes are divided by jump heights in order to make the competition as equal as possible between the different sizes of dogs. The shoulder height of the dog is used to set the minimum jump height.

We do recommend signing up for Pet Country Estate's basic obedience classes before attempting Agility, as dogs will need to work with their person, and not be too distracted by other dogs.
