"It's become a really sizable community event," said Pet Country owner Liz Gordon. "Both working service dogs and dogs-in-training will be on site - along with their handlers, doing demonstrations." From 2004 to 2009, PAWS FOR A CAUSE raised over $52,000 for Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind. Another $8,900 was raised in 2010; and over $8,600 was dog-ear marked in 2011 in support of The Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guide Program. In total: 10 Guide Dogs, and 4 Hearing-Ear dogs have now been sponsored to assist people in our community and from across the region. Organized by Pet Country Estate, together with The Gilford, Thornton and Barrie South Lions Club, we're proud to support The Lions Foundation of Canada. These very special dogs provide vital assistance to people living with physical or medical disabilities, vision or hearing impairment, or autism.
