Say it isn't so! "Jean Marcellus is retiring November 1st"

It is with mixed emotions that we wish JEAN MARCELLUS a very Happy Retirement! Part of our family here at Pet Country Estate for 20 years, Jean first worked as Assistant Trainer for Jim until he retired. She then became our Lead Obedience Trainer, teaching hundreds (perhaps thousands) of dogs and their humans to be responsible canine partners. In addition to successfully completing CKC obedience… ... Trick-or-Treating may look a little different this year

But the danger to pets remains the same. As All Hallows' Eve approaches, here are some SPOOK-TACULAR OSPCA-approved tips to remember: Strange and/or loud noises, as well as little people ones going in-&-out of your home can be quite upsetting to your pet(s) and can even lead to harm. A constantly ringing doorbell and the presence of costumed strangers can cause animals to panic, putting… ... Read More

Thanks for all the Puppy Love (and Google my Business Reviews)

RACHELLE ROBERTSON says: "Our dogs "BOOTS and WILLOW" have been going here for three years. They take advantage of full-day doggie daycare & overnight stays, and come back home exhausted from hours of play! Staff are great and know them by name when we arrive. When we pull in the driveway we always roll down the windows so they can see & smell where they're… ... Read More

It's an annual Thanksgiving Tradition

As we do every October, Pet Country staff & volunteers fondly remembers our Guardian Angels: "TARA & TIREE" Proof-positive Dogs are indeed "Man's Best Friend!" Hard to believe, it was 25 years ago. For those of you who aren't familiar with this incredible story from a cold, blustery February day in 1995, we invite you to share The Incredible Rescue with family/friends and everyone you… ... Shankly - The Story of a Remarkable Dog who Connected a Family

"SHANKLY" was 12 and had a wonderful life. He lived the Canadian dream of retiring in the Rockies. He was my best friend, is deeply missed and will live in our hearts & memories forever. Thank you for bringing Shankly into our lives. Sincerely, Darren Brewer. Rest In Peace "Shankly The Great 2008 - 2020". An Edinglas McNaughton Clansman. Pet Country Estate/Canadian Kennel Club. ... Next Up on our Holiday Calendar: Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving's a holiday centered around family and food. While it’s tempting to include all members of the family in the feast, common dishes are full of ingredients that are toxic to dogs and cats. Keep pets away from: Turkey. Especially fatty dark meat and skin (a small amount of unseasoned white meat is okay), but never give them any leftover bones. Not only are bones… ... Read More

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT (March 8, 2020)

I started breeding cats back in the 1980's. By 1990 I was breeding dogs, first Rottweilers & Golden Retrievers, then Shetland Sheepdogs & Goldens. It was at that time, that I applied to the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) to recognize my kennel name. Edinglas Kennels was born, a division of Pet Country Estate. After much soul-searching and now in my 70th year, I have decided that my current litter will be my last. Once these pups go to their new homes by March 15th, that will be the end of Edinglas Kennels. Do not fear: PET COUNTRY ESTATE will remain… ... Read More

"Rosslyn & Liz"...This Is Us!

Pronounced Ro"z"lyn, Moonbeam's beautiful Golden Girl is named after Rosslyn Chapel in Scotland. The name itself is thought to have been brought over by the Knight's Templar. Upon fleeing their home country of France, the Templars spread over Spain, Ireland, England & Scotland. Rosslyn Chapel is a gorgeous place. When visiting, the area feels somewhat mysterious, as it is the Templars who held many secrets regarding a vast fortune - which has never been found. Within the chapel there are numerous Masonic symbols that to this day have yet to be deciphered. Hence I picked Rosslyn's registered name as "Secrets… ... Read More
